Music is an integral part of Markus Vahtola's everyday life... it's something around what his thoughts loom large. This, however, hasn't always been the case. It wasn't until he turned twelve when he really started listening to music. Three years later he got his first electric guitar, and found himself practicing vigorously. He is wholly self-taught musician, if one excludes the music classes he had in school. He started to compose songs as well as train both his improvisation and production skills right away.
On his 18th birthday, he bought himself midi keyboard to expand his playing skills to keyboard instruments. After another three years, he got himself a bass and a year later gave in to the temptation of the fascinating world of flamenco.
Unless stated otherwise, Markus Vahtola performs everything on his records - vocals, all instruments, composing, arrangement, programming, mixing and mastering... in the past Markus has recorded under many different names/projects, such as Markus V., M.A.G.E. (Markus' All-round Guitar Experiment), Metal Messiah, Mystic Mind, Rage Savage, and Raptured Memory.
Nowadays he only release songs for the project "Voice of a Soul" with the few odd projects he contributes to every now and then.
"Voice of a Soul" is a product of love to which I genuinely put my soul into - each published track conveys uncompromising emotional charge following a no-questions-asked attitude. Music can be seen as the interplay of all contributing souls put forth to realize the sonic experience... for music to be good, it has to hold significance and to attain that it must have that certain heartfelt quality to it.
Since there are far too many talented and inspiring musicians around, I'll refrain from doing any name dropping... same applies to music, and as an open-minded listener I would say every genre has something worthwhile to offer for artists to draw inspiration from.
